Hey happy people. So it’s no secret that I am madly in love with Lantana Cafe. I mean, if I had a perfect 24 hours of eating, my day would start at Lantana, and Lord knows if they were open late into the evening, it would most likely end there.

And then there are those baked eggs. Don’t even get me started.

So when I got the opportunity to chat with Lantana genius, Shelagh Ryan, I hurled myself at the opportunity and so thecattyLIVE was born.

Stay tuned for other awesomeness videos I have up lined up with bloggers, restauranteurs and foodies from all walks of life!

13 Thoughts on “thecattyLIVE: interview with Shelagh Ryan, Lantana Cafe [video]

  1. I love the thecattyLIVE idea! Long life to it!

  2. I love that interview – Shelagh is amazing and Lantana, as everyone that knows me knows, is one of my absolute favourite places to eat in London, if not the best. By the way Catty dahling, you’re looking totally fabulous and hawt in that video!

  3. Oooooh now I really feel the need to have those baked eggs. Maybe this Saturday…. hmmm. I think it’s terrible that I stay 1 minute away and still haven’t managed to go yet. 😛

  4. Mathilde: Hehe thank you 😀

Mowie: you *always* make me blush! too sweet & don’t forget our baked eggs date @ Lantana 😉

Su-Yin: you HAVE to have the baked eggs. That’s all I’ll say.

  5. Great video Cat, looking forward to the next one! =)

Great video Cat! I’ve gotta say, the weekend brunch culture hadn’t made it to Manchester when I was there in August – we spent a fruitless couple of hours mid-morning on a Sunday in the city looking for a place that was open …

  7. David: thanks! 😀

maungle: Well true, even in London most places are closed on Sundays, even Lantana! But I’m hoping that’s something that is gradually changing 🙂

  8. Great video, those baked eggs looks great. Hopefully one day I’ll travel to the UK 🙂

  9. oh you’re so brave to do a video! I hate myself on video I think on me it adds 30lbs!! 🙂

  10. I like this new video series! Looking forward to many more…

  11. Kung Food Panda: the baked eggs are seriously heavenly ~ I’ll bring you there when you come to London 🙂

Jane: LOL well I don’t normally have that double chin.. I think!

Helen: Thanks! I have a few more up my sleeve… get ready for thecattyLIVE 😉 (scary thought, huh?)

  12. Catty, Catty. I just went to Lantana for lunch but I think it must be the snow that dampened the usually friendly Aussie spirit as I stood drooling over the little cakes on the top of the counter while being ignored for a good 4-5 minutes before one girl gave me a “I’ll be with ya in a tick”. Looking at their £3 to eat in cakes which were no bigger than my finger, I began to wonder if this was going to be over priced, pretentious rubbish but nae, I was surprised.

My little tart, in it’s piled-up-in-a-neat-pyramid glory, tasted rather delicious. I had it cold, to go, and stood outside in the snow eating it as I was too hungry to wait to get back to the office (which may only be 10 or so steps away but that’s not the point, I was hungry and nothing stands in the way!)

Chorizo, rocket, butternut, pepper, olive and a little cheese nestled on top of a well cooked, flakey rectangle of pastry. I think I’ll be back and give them another try but next time I’m going to sit in, if I get a seat as it was pretty busy for 1:30pm! Any recommendations on dishes?
