16Feb 2010 bite sized catty: home made loh bak goh {heart} by catty ⋅ 9 Comments In the tradition of Chinese New Year, home-made loh bak goh (Chinese turnip cake) from my gorgeous friend Charmaine. Best lunch I’ve had in a very long time. Posted in: Bite Size, Eating In, Friends & Family
Hoooray! You are an expert fryer. They look so good compared to the ones I cooked, haha!
I followed the very strictest instructions from someone very clever π
wow. they look really really tasty. =D verrry crispy, just the way i like it.
Isn’t it really hard to make?
They were delicious π Charmaine didn’t share the recipe with me, but another blogger has just posted her recipe – check it out: http://lizzieeatslondon.blogspot.com/2010/02/chinese-turnip-cake.html
These could actually have me eating turnips!
Jamie: You don’t like turnip?! Go make some of these! And if you’re in London I’ll take you to yum cha for some nice turnip cake too π
i love these, but i’ve never made them at home, and i find it hard to find them really good in NYC. i’ve tried a lot of places, and many are not so great.
I haven’t made them before either but you should try http://lizzieeatslondon.blogspot.com/2010/02/chinese-turnip-cake.html – it’s always better home made, right? If nothing else you can put more mushrooms and lup cheong (Chinese sausage)!
