Cold udon with fried tofu and spring onions ~ one of the many styles of udon at brand new haunt Koya, on Frith Street in Soho.

Freshly made on the premises and utterly delicious. Just what the doctor ordered.

8 Thoughts on “bite sized: fresh udon at Koya, London

  1. Ate there on Friday, the udon is so good! The poached egg is amazing too, soooo silky. πŸ˜€

  2. Huh do you eat the udon as is, without soup/curry? o_O

  3. Su-yin: Oh yes – Panu had a poached egg too and it was really good! I like this place, so glad it close to both of us πŸ˜‰

Wild Boar: They do ALL kinds of udon eg. warm noodles with warm broth, cold noodles warm broth, warm noodles cold broth, cold noodles cold dipping sauce etc etc – the menu is pretty extensive considering it’s just udon! Mine was cold udon with cold sauce to pour over, it’s not like a big bowl of soup but just enough to wet the noodles. So refreshing and delicious πŸ™‚

  4. Woooo~ You can get fresh udon in London! I thought all you guys had were fish and chips! j/k πŸ˜›

  5. Sounds like udon goodness. Watched this movie titled “Udon” with my friend about some udon-freaks who went around Japan trying to eat as much udon as they could. In one scene, they tried udon in the middle of some rice fields and ate the udon straight out of the plastic take away bag. Anyway will try to go explore this place.

Btw your Urbanspoon links to Ontario.

  6. I spent a whole year as an exchange student in Kyoto Japan, and I have to say I probably wouldnt have gotten by if it wasnt for a delicious bowl of udon a couple of times a week! There is even one shop where you can eat for free if you do 30 minutes of washing the dishes after! Anyway, I found a load more tasty looking ideas at this udon recipe site.
