Hello there Martians! Oh wait, you’re not Martians? But you look all green and like… ohhhh you’ve just been eating lots and lots of matcha. I get it.

It is Matcha Madness month afterall!

So we’re now officially half way through our crazy Matcha-do-about-everything month (damn, why didn’t I come up with the earlier?) and things are getting hot in here. We’ve already had a number of submissions and I’m still waiting for a bunch more to hit my inbox because green, my dear, is the new black.

Since everyone’s doing so well with their matcha recipes, I thought I’d better pull my socks up too and squeeze out another of my own.

Back in Sydney, I used to slurp my way through one or two or sometimes more Starbucks matcha frappucinos every single week. I loved it more than anything because honestly? It’s the next best thing to having matcha IV’d straight into my arm. But since leaving the sunny shores of Sydney, I have been more than a little matcha frappé deprived and despite one quick hit in Hong Kong

… I haven’t had a good matcha frappé in a Very Long Time. I can’t believe it took me this long to do this but hey, better late than never. In the midst of our little summer last week, I decided to take matters into my own little hands and whip me up some matcha frappés!

Refreshing and (if you ignore the condensed milk and cream), utterly good for you!

So, what other ideas have been popping up in my inbox for our Matcha Madness competition? How’s about a little sneak peek?

Ok, you totally twisted my arm. Check out:

All awesomely delicious god I love the kryptonite green 🙂

  2. That looks schweet! Could you bring a few to Elizabeth House, 5th floor, 39 York Road please? 😉

Went to EAT on South Bank yesterday to order their Matcha Latte on recommendation from people on Twitter but must sadly say I was massively disappointed. Slightly bitter, full of lumps.

  3. I am feeling the heat now… need to seriously think about matcha madness!

  4. I like starbuck’s frappe matcha in small quantity as it’s very rich & heavy. Yours looks absolutely drooling.

  5. Manne: oh shame that it was that bad! EAT’s is hit and miss… firstly they use vanilla syrup which adds an odd taste to the latte but to not dissolve matcha properly is such a sin because it can be so bitter! 🙁

Penny: really looking forward to seeing your submission!

The Cooking Ninja: I loooove Starbucks matcha frappe in large quantities with cream on top hehe but I’m kinda gross like that 😉

  6. I was thinking of you today when I ordered my matcha latte at Starbucks… 🙂

  7. You could take over London with these! You’d be making money hand over fist, I mean, the Catty Matcha Frappe, who wouldn’t buy one?

  8. Maria: Haha, yeah I’m pretty sure you’re gonna think of me any time you order ANYTHING matcha from now on! 😉

Sasa: Well you’d buy one wouldn’t ya? And then I’d pay you later!

  9. Ooh I love a good matcha frappe! I was just talking to someone about matcha and how 15 years ago (or even 10) we just didn’t get much matcha stuff. Now it’s easy to get (and that’s a good thing! 🙂

  17. By the way, if you want the same texture and consistency of a Starbucks green tea frapp, then you need to add 1/2/1 tsp of xanthan gum. You can buy it on amazon for 6 bucks. Along with matcha powder 🙂
