If you asked me to describe myself in four words or less, I could say She Eats A Lot. Some might even be inclined to be nice and say Chatty Quirky Happy Smiley. But really, I think what hits the nail more on the head is Fricking Utterly Matcha Crazy.

Oh yes.

But it’s not enough for me to be utterly matcha crazy, I want YOU! to also be utterly matcha crazy and how do we do that? Well, thanks to the great people at teapigs, this month, we’re giving away matcha to celebrate…

Yay! 😀

To say that I love matcha is an understatement. Everyone knows this. I mean, did you see Mr Noodles’ comment in my last post? Did he just notice that I have a mild obsession with this decadent green power-powder? Where has he been??

Probably busy eating noodles.

Anyway, I adore matcha because it is amazing and does loads of good things for you like raise your metabolism, give you energy, lower your cholesterol and help prevent heart disease. And if you don’t believe me you gotta believe Panu. He’s a certified crazy health nut and guess what? He drinks matcha every. single. day.

Believe me? Still no? Ok fine, well matcha is also 100% delicious!

I, with the help of the wonderful teapigs, am on the warpath to bring matcha into everybody’s lives. It’s important. It’s good for you. And really, how often does something that’s good for you taste awesome too?

So for the month of July, we’re asking all of you to go a little matcha crazy with us. Make matcha goodies! Blog matcha yummies! Email me a link to your post with a photo and at the end of the month there will be two winners ~ my favourite recipe and teapigs’ favourite recipe ~ and each of you will win a tin of teapigs matcha powder, valued at £25.

Rules….
1.  Make something with matcha. It doesn’t matter what it is. It doesn’t have to be a made up recipe (but please of course acknowledge if you use someone else’s recipe) and it can be something you’ve already made!

2.  Blog it and email me the link to your post. If you don’t have a blog I’m still interested! Email me your recipe and a photo. My email is: thecattylife@gmail.com.

3.  Send your entries to me by 31 July 2010.

4.  Anyone from anywhere can enter!

At the start of August, I’ll post every single entry (with links back to your blog) so we can all be inspired by the creative matcha recipes out there! The winners will be announced and hopefully, after ingesting butt loads of matcha all month, we’ll all be a little healthier 😉

Need some inspiration? Check out my matcha recipes here.

Any questions please ask otherwise… let the matcha madness begin!

I also tried to make a matcha toffee sauce but it looks like pond slime.

  25. I’ve made a Matcha and White Chocolate Panna Cotta in honouring this event. Nothing fancy or rather not a special combination, but I’ve added a touch of lavender and vanilla to flavour things up!

Even if I don’t win, I’d still be happy and glad I was part of this fun event!

    Thanks for the chance Catty!

Hey, what about hakka thunder tea rice (Lui Cha)? Will that count? I did put some green tea dust in it, of which is regular jap green tea, but not matcha, but one can easily subtitute that with matcha.

  29. Just in time, madness indeed

Hello! I am ADDICTED to matcha (or, well, the idea of it, because I love it) but I can’t get my hands on it since 1) it’s too expensive for me (college student… what can I do, right? haha) and 2) I can’t find matcha powder anywhere in Paris anyway (studying abroad – originally from the US). I LOVE cooking and baking and looking at everyone’s pictures and recipes (and omgsh yours kill me and inspire me every day). Do you know where I can get affordable, quality matcha? Also, what is your favorite way to use matcha? I love matcha lattes, except Starbucks is too sugary and the matcha flavor is sometimes overpowered, so one day I want to make my own! 🙂

    Thanks!
    Jillian

    • Hey Jillian! Thanks for your comment… I know what it feels like to love matcha but have it be so damn expensive. If you’re cooking with matcha, or you’re drinking it for taste not just for it’s fantastic qualities, you don’t have to buy a high grade matcha (which is more expensive). Here in London, in any Chinese grocery store in Chinatown, you can find matcha… I once bought a 100g tin for £14 which is pretty good – 100g goes a LONG way. Is there a Chinatown in Paris you can check out? Otherwise you’d have to buy online. Right now Vitalife Matcha is having a sale if that helps.

I like matcha in ALL WAYS and yes have also made my own matcha latte and matcha frappe 🙂 LOVE matcha ice cream too! Let me know if you have any issues getting matcha and I’ll try my best to help.
