Warning: don’t let the corn fritters fool you. This blog post is not about food. Instead, you get a healthy portion of geekdom. Enjoy!

I don’t think I’ve been this geeked-out in a while. Yesterday I – by my own complete free will – went along to the MCM Expo, otherwise known as London’s Comic Convention, otherwise known as Where People Dress Up As Their Favourite Comic/Cartoon/Movie Characters.

We were there to support my friend Andie, who is (completely unbiased me) the best graphic artist I’ve ever stumbled across. Andie is the one man band for Deemon Productions, and has drawn for the likes of DC, Marvel, Darkhorse, Panini (mmmm… panini, who said this was a no-food post?) and Mirage Studios.

Basically, he rocks ass.

I’d heard that people often dressed up for the MCM Expo and when asked if I was going to dress up? My answer was basically HELL NO. But now I kinda sorta really wished I did because… being un-dressed-up? We felt wayyyy more out of place than the people who did, and in all seriousness, I give RES.PECT. to everyone who made the effort – some of the costumes were unbelievable.

The crew from DragonBallZ! I only wish Goten was there.

Doc Brown from Back to the Future.

R2D2 – who actually bleeped in response to conversation!

It’s Peter Griffin and Stewie from The Family Guy!

I *heart* Yoshi!

Amazing… Navi women from Avatar.

And my friends Christine and Brendon. How *cute* are they?

So that was my geek day part one.

Part two. Last night, Panu and I went to watch The Social Network. FINALLY.

I’d been dying to watch this movie for the absolute longest time, not in the least because of all the critical acclaim that had been flung its way, but mainly because everybody ~ normal people ~ have been raving about how awesome it is.

And awesome it was. For all the haters out there, don’t think about it as a movie about facebook, because believe me, I can totally understand the disinterest if that was really what it was all about. Think of it as a brilliantly sculpted litigation drama: intense, engaging and thought-provoking, only the best from Aaron Sorkin.

And there’s even some eye candy for the ladiez!

Armie Hammer plays Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss (once you stop giggling about their adorable surname, you realise how uber hot they are – or he is, the talented Mr Hammer playing identical twins and all that) and at 6’5″ and 200-and-whatever pounds he says he is, this guy is seriously very very very very ridiculously good looking.

But I didn’t swoon over him. Strangely, I found myself completely besotted with and lusting after Jesse Eisenberg who plays the world’s youngest bazillionaire and facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

GEEK HOTNESS. Not really sure where all this adolescent angst/lust/drooling is coming from but seriously, geekness is So Much Hotter than tall-muscly-blondeness right now.

Rise of the geeks!

And because I really can’t let a post go by without mentioning food, let me share with you what fuelled me throughout my geek day.

Breakfast: corn fritters and breakfast tea at Lantana.
Lunch: beef mooli with papadums and a mango & ginger lassi from Mooli’s.
Dinner: grilled pork bun from Viet Pho.
Snacks: Ben & Jerry’s choc chip cookie dough and various chocolate yummies.

Oh and ps! I’ve drawn the winner for the Green & Black’s competition, and congratulations to Alice from Frolicking Foodie!

  4. Yutjangsah: Did I really sell it, or was it the uber hot Winklevoss twins?? πŸ˜‰

Sarah: Well, I suppose the good news is that there are no special effects that require the big screen! I am totally gonna watch it again when it comes on tv πŸ˜€ GEEK HOTNESSSSSS…
