I’ve never been into pink. I mean, pink is a girl’s colour right? Right. And to be frank, I’ve never been much of a girlie girl. Growing up, I felt awkward in dresses although ok I do remember this one little white dress with tiny little flowers embroidered across the front which I adored, I always felt more at home in shorts and a baggy t-shirt, which was just as well because for most of my childhood I had a bowl haircut anyway, and that honey, just doesn’t go with a dress.

Even now as an adult as a grown up that I’m in my thirties, I still feel fidgety and uncomfortable in dresses and live the majority of my life in jeans and boots and t-shirts because according to the genius that is me, that’s how life should be lived. Admittedly, I do own a dress or two (all black and plain), but when I wear them I feel like the whole world is gawking at me like I’m wearing a tutu to a black tie event. With a peacock on my head.

Le sigh.

Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that I’m not a girlie girl and I don’t like pink. I wasn’t even going to talk about myself in this post but you see how it just happens? I can’t even help it and suddenly you have three paragraphs about moi. Apologies.

What I did want to talk about is: do you know who loves pink and who absolutely rocks pink like it’s Pinkmas every day? My friend and phenomenal baker/food blogger/ photographer/stylist extraordinaire, Mowie, that’s who. His unabashed adoration for all things pink is infectious and before I knew it, I was sitting in Mowie’s living room looking at an entire dessert table covered in ALL THINGS PINK.

Seriously? If you weren’t a pink food item? Just go in the trash or under the couch or maybe just back in the kitchen, banished until a non-pink loving person takes you home.

The pinkness of it all was incredible but what’s really crazy incredible is that Mowie (and his partner in crime, Bruce) made all of this All On Their Own. Us plebs were relegated the task of bringing savouries to this pot luck lunch, and there are no photos of the savouries because NONE OF IT WAS PINK.

So, what was on the Pink Menu?

pink and white macarons: white pepper & passionfruit,
and lemon & honey buttercream

ginger bread butterflies

vanilla and cinnamon cupcakes

coconut and lime whoopie pies

raspberry swirl marshmallows

gift boxed pink Percy Pigs

There were also canneles on the menu, but they weren’t pink so didn’t deserve an individual photo (or I just forgot to take one, same same). And then there’s one more thing that wasn’t pink that did deserve a photo.

Bruce’s absolutely delicious but KILLER “lemon drops”. I mean, we all know I’m not a big drinker and normally one shot of limoncello would be the end of me. Well, guess what’s in this concoction? Three (three!) shots of limoncello and a shot of vodka, just for good measure.

Ay ay ay…

So are you impressed? BE IMPRESSED! I can’t believe the two guys put this whole smorgasbord of pink deliciousness together. And of course they made way too much so we were sent home with a selection of goodies.

Thanks Mowie and Bruce for having us over and I seriously passed out from my sugar coma that day. CRAZY. LOVE YOU.

ps. I made some boring salads for lunch that day. Su-yin made delicious chicken (Nigella’s recipe I believe) and sesame noodles, and Jenn made her life saving hangover prawn curry. YUM.

Of the many blogs I have visited, four are my total favorites and one more is making its way. Yours is one, Mowie’s is another, NQN is another, and David
Lebovitz is not least. Phouc is delightful with amuse bouche. (spelling?) And
ever since Mowie got the book deal, he’s been one busy cat. I miss his blog
notices and new recipes and gorgeous photos. His is the Pink Comfort Zone of
excellent blogdom. You can tell him I said that. In my Pink Elephant splendor, I
    salute him.
Thank you for this post. Just yesterday, I was wondering about his progress.
There is only so much time in a day. It is not my intent to snub other bloggers. If
I could, I would spend more time visiting their blogs. Time is the only reason I
can only have a few favorites. But I’m not above being a blog slut and hopping around the web. I adore this community.

    • Awwwww that is just about the nicest comment I’ve ever received! I cannot believe you’re putting me up there with Mowie, NQN and David Lebovitz! Thanks so much Linda, I always find your comments genuinely interesting as they give me an insight into your life. Now, why don’t YOU have a blog?

  15. Gift boxed percy pigs just blows my MIND!!!
Haha I love pink ๐Ÿ˜€ off to read his blog and hyperventilate. ๐Ÿ˜€

  16. I want to try and make whoopie pies!!! I WANT TO BE AWESOME TOO!!!

  17. What a positive orgy of pinkness. Wow. I am impressed at the range of pinkpinkpink desserts on offer there. Well balanced by a yellow cocktail (ain’t limoncello ace?). I particularly like the look of the macarons… mmm… It would have been hard to match these with pink main courses. Beetroot salad…ummm… radishes?

  18. Oh my…reading this post makes me feel like I’ve been eaten by a pink marshmallow! LOL Love it.
