You know what’s pathetic? What’s really pathetic? I’ll tell you what. It’s Friday night and I’m out having dinner with friends. No, that’s not the pathetic part. We have dinner at Cay Tre, before moving onto Candy Cafe for dessert. I have a matcha ice cream smoothie. That’s definitely not the pathetic part.

The pathetic part starts when we’re done with dessert. We’re too full to have another dessert (which was part of the grand plan but alas, our eyes were much greedier than our tummies) so we wander through Soho and look, just look at food that we could be consuming.

Sad, right?

We perch at the window ofย Bubbleology, transfixed by the fluidity with which the bubbleologists prepare each drink. We then head to Gelupo just to check out the flavours on offer. Then Cox, Cookies & Cakes. Then Princi. Then L’Eto Caffe. You get the idea.

But that’s still not even the really pathetic part! The reaaaaally pathetic part is that I’m home at 10pm. And the first thing I do? Download my photos and start a blog post because damn, I’m excited to show you my matcha ice cream smoothie! ๐Ÿ˜€

Haha, I’m a such blog geek.

Anyway,ย Candy Cafe has been there for eons but because it’s hidden on the first floor above Leong’s Legends, no one really knows about it or maybe they do but you know, there’s the added pressure of going up a flight of stairs to check something out. Almost as though by going up, you’ve committed to dining there and what if you didn’t like the place? Somehow it’s much easier to just walk out of a ground floor establishment without buying anything. Um, much like we did several times tonight.

Candy Cafe is predominantly a bubble tea joint and our little venture out tonight actually served two purposes. Firstly, me and my matcha. Secondly, we were there to pop Mowie and Bruce’s bubble tea cherry!

Consider it POPPED. Good and proper.

The bubble tea atย Candy Cafe is derrrriiiiicious. It’s that light and sweet HK bubble tea style, which I think a lot of places here get wrong – they make it too bitter, butย Candy Cafe, they get it just right. Big props.

We also shared a matcha azuki dessert, which comes with matcha shaved ice, jelly, cold dumplings, red bean and matcha ice cream.

And of course there’s my matcha ice cream smoothie – a tall glass of matcha goodness, all mixed up with ice and sago. It’s rich but not sweet,ย a big fat matcha hit if there ever was one.

LOVE that this place is so close to my house. I might just move in. And now that I’ve shared my excitement with y’all, I can totally go to bed and continue with my lame existence of bed at 11pm on a Friday night. Love it.

OMG *Drools* that Matcha Ice cream smoothie looks so lush and so does bubble tea! I just had to look it up, as I had no idea what it was and now I am very tempted to try it and do some bubble tea cherry popping of myself. Thank you! Your blog posts are always so inspiring and full of knowledge, especially about places in London I wouldn’t have otherwise known about, and eaten in before. Hope you are well x
