The first time I went to Flat Planet, all I had was a tea. But the fabulous ladies behind the counter were making these deliciously topped flatbreads and offered us some sample slices. I had one taste and fell madly deeply in love.
The concept is unassumingly simple – they make their dough using organic English spelt flour rolled into oblong dough-plates and top them with a variety of ingredients, creating some that are hot (oven baked) and some that are not and some that are breakfast inspired! Seriously, what’s not to like about something akin to a mini pizza, except a billion times tastier? Nothing, that’s what.
My favourite is the El Diablo (above), a tasty combination of chili oil, sundried tomato paste, rose harissa, smoked chili jelly, chorizo, fresh coriander and shavings of fresh parmesan. OMGYUMMM. Below is a new Mexican flavour, with refried beans, tomato, red onion and guacamole. Plus extra garlic sauce (which you can add yourself. As much as you like!) 😀
And this may not be half as pretty but surely speaks for itself with taste. It’s the aptly named Wikileeks, with sautéed leeks, goats cheese and smoked chilli jam:
They also, incidentally, make awesome brownies 😉
And then there are these “juices”, which are so light they’re more like flavoured water, but not the horrible supermarket variety (although, I have to shamefully admit that I used to be a little addicted to orange vitamin water). I’ve tried apple & ginger and pear & apple both of which are so good I suck them down like… a fricking oreo milkshake.
Flat Planet landed on our planet not very long ago and wriggled its way into my little heart. If you haven’t already been, I totally suggest you check it out. It’s a great idea that’s perfect for sunshiny summer days (like Friday, where I enjoyed take-out in the park) or to wile away some time (like I did on Saturday) watching the Carnaby St crowd passing by on one of their outdoor seats.
Oh hi look it’s Panu! Sipping on his pear & apple juice!

Sounds like a really good place, nutritional and healthy! Thanks for sharing. I may take a visit next time am in Soho. 🙂
LOL I love it! Wikileeks! So topical and funny-who would have ever thought that it would appear on a pizza 😛
yeah that first pizza looks good! reminds me of Masterchef australia 2 where one of the contestants made up a pizza by putting rocket leaves on top.
Isn’t it great that they use spelt flour?! These look so good!
heh heh Wikileeks. Brilliant. I love it. The food looks good, too. I’ve never used spelt flour….spelts…sound like small fish, like smelts. But if YOU say it’s good, I believe you.
Ana: It’s great for lunch or a snack.. each flatbread is only £3-£4 so it’s great value too 🙂
Lorraine: Haha I love the name too!
mc: Yeah, it really is like a little pizza. Maybe a good pizza making activity with the kids?
Maria: YES! I thought of you when I saw that! Honest!
Linda: I say it’s good 😀
Glad you’re finding time to relax from the job stress! Great post. x

Tori: Definitely – glad it’s sunnier again today!
Juliane: I might just check it out. I’ve never made a proper pizza base at home before, so who knows! 😉
Smoked chilli jelly? Wow! And love that they use spelt flour. Looks totally delicious and worth a visit when I’m next in the area.
the smoked chilli jelly is amazing.. kind of like caramelised onions with a kick. SO GOOD.
Oh, new discovery for me! One more place to eat at that’s close to us, tick. I wonder if they sell their smoked chilli jam…
Wow that was odd. I just wrote an extremely long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t show up. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Regardless, just wanted to say wonderful blog!
