Friday night is a win all in itself, no matter where you are in the world, but I had three more wins on my Friday night. First win.  Dinner at Ichi-ban Boshi where they serve matcha cappuccinos hot or iced. Second win? Dinner with the stunning Maria who laughs at my dodgy Finnish pronunciations but hey, I blame Panu. And third win? She sent me home with some deriiiiicious mocha cake!

Ichi-ban Boshi has always been a favourite of mine in Sydney. They make good ramen and Japanese curry and basically everything. The long queues don’t even matter (like, today we arrived there for dinner before 6pm and there was a damn queue) when you make like me and bring someone you actually want to chat to, or if you brought someone you don’t particularly want to chat to, you can wile away the time at Kinokuniya, which is right next door.

We didn’t get any ramen this time but instead shared a few small dishes. Everything was delicious, and the crispy salmon roll had some kick to it, so watch out chilli wimps!

My highlight was obviously the iced matcha cappuccino. I LOVE that matcha is so easy to come by in Sydney. After dinner Maria and I took a stroll around Circular Quay and shared a matcha ice cream from Baskins (which by the way, is better than you’d expect). Now I just need to find a local stockist for matcha kitkats again 🙂

By the way, just so y’all know, I seem to have lost the battery charger for my camera. This obviously spells D.I.S.A.S.T.E.R because when my currently battery goes flat, well honestly? I don’t actually know what’s going to happen because my battery has never. ever. gone flat before. So who knows, but I’m pretty sure something bad will go down, like this is totally going to set off the 2012 apocalypse as predicted by the Mayans. Or something.

But anyway, my point is that I’ve decided that until such time as I rectify the situation (hm, maybe I should like, just go buy a new battery charger?) I’m allowing myself to take one photo per dish. So it’d better damn well be a good one or so help me god.
