Believe it or not, one of the things I most looked forward to about coming back to Sydney was, despite popular belief, not the food. I know, crazy right? But true. I looked forward to a bunch of other things, and am still looking forward to many things, like meeting my friends’ new baby girls (two friends, two new baby girls,Β just this week. It’s all happening y’all).

But really, the thing I most looked forward to was getting a car and having legs wheels again. To go forth wherever I wanted to go. Which mainly, is to go eat.

And today was the day, I woke up like a kid on Christmas morning. 5am and I’m wide awake, hours before I needed to be. But nothing beats excitement to keep you awake, caffeine included. At 9am I headed down to the Mazda dealer and picked him up; my very new buddy and partner in crime, Marvin!

“Hi, Marvin!”

Marvin says hi back. Of course he does.

Anyway, Marvin is a bit of a dream for me… at the decrepit age of 32, to buy my own car with my own money. Well, living in London for 3.5 years is not conducive to saving money, that’s for sure. But ain’t he a gem, a bright green, round gem? I love him to bits and I love his integrated bluetooth even more! We’ll no doubt be partners in crime, seeking out good grub in Sydney together, and I’m so looking forward to it all πŸ˜€

So, aside from wheels, another thing I looked forward to about coming home was… tim tams. And mint slices! And here I am, “working” (aka “blogging about Marvin”) and keeping up my sustenance with some tim tams and a value pack of mint slices.

Β Sure is good to be home πŸ™‚

ps. photos taken on my dodgy new work phone, a HTC Trophy Windows 7 Phone IWANTTOGAG. I hate it πŸ™

14 Thoughts on “meet the new love of my life, Marvin! (sorry Panu)

  1. Oh my god I miss tim tams and mint slices! Glad you are mobile again…

  2. Hi Catty – and Marvin! We miss you here in London! But I know allll about the crazy things that one looks forward to in Australia. The thing I am craving most of all is… Glad Wrap. Yes, Glad Wrap. None of these British brands are any substitute. I am so many fights with the cling film rolls over here and have thrown countless out because I lose the end and then there’s no salvaging them. Anyway, rant over. Hope Sydney is as wonderful as ever. Have you been to Bill’s for breakfast yet?

  3. Congrats on the new car πŸ™‚ he’s so fab!! A perfect little stand out – love it!

  4. chocolatesuze: lol, glows in the dark πŸ˜‰

Gourmet Chick: tim tams and mint slices GALORE! come back and I’ll get you some!

Greedy Diva: Glad wrap! You’re right, the UK brands just never clinged the same and clinged in the wrong places! lol.. hilarious πŸ˜€ I haven’t been to Bill’s yet but am planning to very soon!

    Nic: Thank you!

  5. Haha you’ll be amused to know that I managed to drive across the Harbour Bridge all by myself today! πŸ˜‰ And I have an HTC Desire and I loathe it-arrgh!

  6. Cute ride, Catty!…Decrepit age of 32? OMG and WTF! You are still a Spring chicken, kiddo. :0)

  7. Dude, Marvin is like totally a gigantic Junior Mint! πŸ˜‰ Hope you are enjoying yourself in Sydney. Don’t be surprised if Panu gets a motorcycle and calls it by some female name…

  8. Linda: hehehe I know I know.

Laissez Fare: ahhh now all the other good names are coming in. Junior Mint!!

  9. Marvin is so cute!
