wagyu tartare, soft quail egg, creme fraiche, capers, horseradish, sourdough
I’d imagine that most girls would want to be proposed to in the most romantic of ways. Mysteriously whisked away, a hundred deep red roses, somewhere under the dark Moroccan sky (I don’t know, I thought Morocco was romantic, didn’t you?). Or ok, maybe not quite so lavish. Perhaps a hint of something sparkly, at the bottom of your champagne glass?
I don’t know.
I’m imagining this because I am not most girls. I am not romantic and thank goodness I wasn’t proposed to in a romantic way because I would have died of laughter and well, if it had been romantic, it wouldn’t be any more. But as unromantic as we are, we do like us a little celebration and though the proposal was a month ago now, Panu and I found ourselves at the rather romantic Café Sydney last Friday night, celebrating… us.
For me, romance is not about whispering sweet nothings, gifts and grand gestures. For me, romance is down time. It’s me and him, on the couch, doing nothing, enjoying time in silence (ok you got me, it’s because we’re both on our laptops). But seriously, it’s me and him doing nothing and doing everything, as long as we’re doing it together.
But sure, every now and then we also like to splurge on a nice dinner 😉
gin martini
Café Sydney is one of those places that take your breath away. Perched atop Customs House in Sydney’s Circular Quay, the restaurant overlooks both the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, and on a good day, you’ll witness a sunset to absolutely die for; it’s perfect for anyone dating in Sydney. Its menu is uniquely Australian with home grown seafood and really, between the food, the ambience and the company, I really did feel head over heels… in love.
baby beetroot & goats cheese tart, caramelised onion, walnut, watercress, cabernet vinegar
grilled pork cutlet, pork belly, croquette, apple, radish, savoy cabbage
seared scallops, pickled carrot, quinoa, red vein sorrel, crispy pancetta
spiced quince cheesecake, poached apple, ginger crumble, vanilla ice cream
fried banana, peanut butter parfait, salted caramel peanuts, chocolate ice cream
All right. I bet you’re all wondering where this “Win a $200 dinner” thing is. It’s all been very timely, Panu and my engagement and feeling all loved up, because I’ve teamed up with eHarmony, the King (or Queen) of dating sites in Australia to give you a chance to win a romantic dinner for two, valued at $200.
I’m a big supporter of any sort of dinner really, but having a romantic dinner to add a little zest back into your relationship surely never goes astray. It might be the dressing up, the anticipation, the luscious food… or maybe it’s just a little special you time to re-energize your relationship. Whatever the case, $200 for dinner at a venue of your choice is a pretty great way to celebrate a special moment in your life.
So how do you get your hands on the $200? Simple.

Each entry above will increase your chances of winning so why not do all four? Good luck!

Romance are those unspoken things,
Not weddings and big bling!
It’s the thoughtful acts,
And rubbing your back!

Me, hubby, no kids, steak, wine and chocolate – time to relax, reconnect our souls and start communicating.

My idea of a romantic night would be dinner with hubby and no kids! No one else to feed, no one whining that they are full, eating dinner while it’s still warm. Would be a dream come true 🙂

And finally…. Romance to me is thinking of someone, what they would like or enjoy, what would make them happy and doing it.
Champagne, chocolate dipped strawberries, oysters, rose petals, candle light, silk stockings, satin sheets, red lipstick …
