You all know me well enough to know that I’m a creature of habit. When I find something I like, I stick to it with gusto. Which is great for you know, healthy things like quinoa, but not so good for… oh I don’t know, maybe my daily chocolate honeycomb chunk (new favourite!)?

For the past 14 months, I’ve been having yoghurt for breakfast every Monday through Thursday. Fridays is my raisin toast day, Saturdays and Sundays Panu and I try and indulge in brunch out. But yes, every. single. Monday through Thursday since August last year, I’ve had one little tub of Activia yoghurt for breakfast. The flavours vary (strawberry, mixed berries, pear, mango) but still, it’s kind of crazy, don’t you think?

No, it’s not a trick question.

No really, you can say it.

You really think I’m crazy? Really?

O… kay.

Well, guess what? I’ve broken the pattern. Two weekends ago, while grocery shopping, I said to Panu “I’m not getting yoghurt this week.” He stopped the trolley. He turned around really slowly, probably in an effort to not widen this tear in the fabric of our universe any more than it’s already torn, because clearly it wasn’t me he was speaking to, it was another me. From a parallel universe. With red hair.

“But… what will you eat?” He was genuinely concerned. So sweet.

I thought for a minute, because when I announced that I would stop getting yoghurt, I hadn’t really formed a back up plan. “I think… I think… I’m going to do smoothies for breakfast.”

I mean, seriously, I decided it just like that. I hadn’t thought about what would go into the smoothies, but at least I knew I had a blender. That’s a good start. So here we are 10 days into it and I’m still smoothie-ing. Will this last 14 months?

We’ll see, won’t we?
