One of the main reasons people who don’t ‘get’ Twitter don’t like it is because they don’t think you can get a message across in 140 characters or less. Another reason is because they’re probably too far removed from Generation Me! Me! Me! to fully appreciate narcissism.

I for one, believe that narcissism is fuelled by followers. I mean, if no one was there to see your selfie, did you really take a selfie at all? Ok that was a dumb example but you get what I mean. Secondly, I totally believe you can get a message across in 140 characters or less. In fact, you can do entire recipes.

Like this @jamieoliver guy:

Still battling with my intense aversion to cooked meat, fish, eggs or basically anything I used actually like, it’s sometimes hard to decide what to eat for lunch. Talk about the ultimate in first world problems… I have a kitchen full of food (because great mum-to-be websites will tell you to stock everything, as you never know what you’re going to feel like eating) and I JUST DON’T WANT TO EAT ANY OF IT.

I’m sorry, starving children.

Luckily yesterday, I felt like I could go for some pancakes. Not usually a fan of pancakes, I didn’t have a go to recipe, but remembered Jamie Oliver’s super easy Twitter recipe, which by the way came in at only 93 characters.

I also recently received some of these Freshfields Fast & Fruity fresh fruit packs. Available from Coles from 29 May onwards, Fast & Fruity are 100% pure chunky fruit with no added sugar, preservatives, sulphite or sodium and is also gluten free. Personally, I like that they come in these re-sealable squeezy packs – a no mess way to serve and store the fruit.

I tried Be-licious berry and apple flavour with my pancakes today and I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the fruit. It’s chunky enough so that you can See Real Fruit and mushy enough to pour directly onto the pancakes. Or into a smoothie, or on your cereal or dessert or hey, straight into your mouth! 😉

GIVE AWAY TIME! Freshfields are giving away more of these Fast & Fruity packs (with all three flavours) to readers. If you’d like to get a pack, leave a comment below including “Please can I try the new Fast & Fruity?”. If you don’t want to try it, just leave a regular comment anyway, they always make me smile 🙂

I have 5 packs to give away so leave a comment before 31 May and I’ll randomly pick 5 lucky recipients. Oh, and you’ve gotta be in Australia.

Easiest pancake recipe ever
1 egg
1 cup self raising flour
1 cup milk
pinch of salt
  1. Place all ingredients in a bowl and whisk.
  2. Heat up a non-stick fry pan. Add 1/4 cup of mixture to fry pan, let cook, flip. Remove. Repeat until all pancakes are cooked.
  3. Serve with whatever you like! (I used cream and Fast & Fruity’s Be-licious Berry & Apple).
Makes 6 pancakes

ooooh… I want some fast and fruity! is there a rule which says I can’t be in the draw cos we share some genetic material?

  4. I just made pancakes for afternoon tea today! Used whole meal flour, rice milk, frozen blueberries plus cocoa powder and vanilla essence and sugar. Those fresh and fruity things look interesting. Is there a rule where two people who share the same generic material as you can’t both win?

  5. I think pancakes can always be appealing and will always be kept down! Yours look fantastic, fluffy and decadent with the berries and cream!

Please can I try the new Fast & Fruity?

  6. Please can I try the new Fast and Fruity? Timmy will love it on his porridge! And lucky u can eat pancakes cos they’re pretty delish. We use this exact recipe once a week! But poor Timmy gets buckwheat/gf flour, rice milk and egg replacer. How sad!!

  8. Good to see you’re cooking a bit once more. These pancakes look great.
Oh, and please can I try the new Fast & Fruity? I have a man-child at home who doesn’t like fruit unless it comes in a packet and is not fruit-shaped.

  9. These look amazing – go Jamie Oliver! Congrats on your pregnancy Catty – let me know if you come across any good parenting/baby blogs.
