Wow. It’s been a long time between posts. So long in fact that I had to work my brain hard to remember my website login. I don’t think I’ve ever gone this long without a post. But these days, finding the time to blog has fallen down the priority ladder, right down next to having a nap and definitely behind leisurely using the toilet. Ah yes, priorities have changed.
But I had to post about this little gem because awesomeness like this is too good not to share.
Wagaya Tapas in Newtown do a $6.50 ramen lunch special. For $2 extra, you get a side salad and three gyozas. The first time I had it, I wasn’t expecting much and isn’t that always the best? When mediocre expectations are knocked out of the park by greatness? A basic tonkotsu ramen with pork, egg and bamboo shoots, the broth is thick, flavoursome and a meal in itself.
For $6.50 (or $8.50 with the salad and gyozas) you really can’t get much better around these parts. Well, ok the banh mi from the bakery near Newtown Station is pretty awesome for $5 but this, this is a meal. And for us non-maternity paid mums, this is gold.
And if you feel like splurging, try the iced green tea latte. Full flavoured with a scoop of matcha ice cream, it may cost almost as much as your ramen but who’s counting when it comes to matcha?

Wagaya Tapas in Newtown do a $6.50 ramen lunch special? Hmmm interesting.. I wanna dine there so soon.
Yeah they do! Go soon as they told us they were thinking about not opening for lunches soon and focusing on the dinner crowd.
Wow that looks really good! and for only $6,50!
It’s been a long time between Wagaya’s matcha lattes for me…the city and a staircase and oh, just forget it!
