Jazz City Diner: the burgers aren't pretty but they taste good!

Have you ever seen a square patty? Is it to maximise logistics efficiency, like how they make square watermelons? Well, I for one hadn’t ever seen a square patty, not until I had a burger at Jazz City Diner last Friday night.

And honestly, I don’t care if they make their patties in an eight petalled flower mould, because those patties were effring delicious :D

Petaling St Hawker: my home away from home

I’ve actually been meaning to post about Petaling St Hawker for a long time. Well, “long” is relative considering they’ve only been open about five weeks. But I’m so excited about this place that I wanted to share it will y’all – just as soon as I had a bigger collection of dishes to talk about.

But that was never going to happen. Because I only ever eat three dishes at hawker places.

bite sized: Four in Hand burger... not a winner.

There exists a burger which I don’t like. For real. This burger from the bar menu at Four in Hand might look amazingly succulent and juicy, but their pattie was packed full of herbs which I didn’t like at all. Herbs and bits like… capers?! In my world, capers only go with smoked salmon.

eating healthy at Healthy Chef Café, Avalon

It’s kind of funny when people think all I eat is burgers and ice cream. That’s only like… 80% true. Because believe it or not, I can also eat healthy. Sometimes. bite sized: pulled pork nachos at Hard Rock Café

I hang my head in shame. After blogging about tourist-trap Darling Harbour earlier this week, I now have to admit that I also ate at Hard Rock Café over the Christmas break. Not just a restaurant in a touristy location but the fricking big kahuna of all touristy venues. I am ashamed.

But I did have the nachos. With pulled pork. And jalapeños. And it was delicious.

Going on a secret surprise trip this weekend, so see y’all on the other side! x

second chances: Blackbird Café, Darling Harbour

There’s something about giving second chances. What that thing is I don’t really know yet because… me, I’m not a great one at giving second chances. In fact, it’s one of my resolutions – and um, has been for years – to work on forgiving and forgetting. As much as I generally love everyone, if somebody hurts me or hurts someone I care about, I can hold a grudge for all of eternity. And beyond.

But I’m slowly learning to give second chances. And maybe it’s easier to learn to give second chances to things that aren’t human; things are that more predictable, stable, constant. Like restaurants.

Like Blackbird Café in Darling Harbour, for example.
