fat pants day: consuming Taste of London, 2010

It happened again. This time last year, I remember waking up, frothing at the mouth excited like someone was giving me a puppy wrapped in a ticket to Vegas on Christmas morning. But it wasn’t Christmas and there was no puppy. A ticket to Vegas did come eventually, but that’s not the story. The story goes that this time last year, I was so eager to get to Taste of London that I made Panu run to the event.

For realz.

a holiday in London: the Andaz Liverpool St Hotel and 1901 Restaurant

So it’s Bank Holiday weekend and Panu and I are in London. I know, abysmal effort on our part to get away seeing as we’d just come back from Hong Kong and that virtual cheque book is still hurting just a little bit.

St John Restaurant: expectations, good marrow and a little heart break

St John Restaurant. What can I say? Well there is definitely something to be said about having stellar expectations, looking forward to a meal at a reputedly fantabulous restaurant, and having my little heart shattered from disappointment.

Expectation, coupled with the fact that I’d just experienced the insufferable uselessness of the British travel system (given that two fluffs of snowflakes caused some major flight disruptions to and from Luxembourg where I’d just spent three nights with very little sleep, and believe me, I is precious with my sleep), resulted in me being crazy excited about my meal at St John last night.

Because food does make everything better.

BUT. Disappointment plus.

Grand Union: that burger. it’s as tall as my head.

the Grand Union cheese burger

There are three things in life that I can’t say no to.

  1. ice cream
  2. burgers
  3. my boyfriend sleeping in

Offer any of those to me, in any order, or better yet – all together – and I am in a slice of catty heaven.
