This morning, I ate ice cream for breakfast. I shit you not, I woke up all stressed about work and the only thing that could make me feel better was drowning my anxiety in a big bowl of cereal milk ice cream. Well, at least it was cereal milk, right? That’s practically healthy!
Did everyone have a good weekend? Over here, I had one fabulousssss weekend for a squillion reasons, not in the least because it was the first time I got to sleep in in over a month (and yes, you bet I made good use of that) but because a tiny event happened out of the blue and my life is now forever changed.
In case y’all don’t follow me on twitter, facebook, instagram or um, you’ve been under a rock, you would have known that I was in Townsville last weekend helping my baby niece celebrate her very first birthday 🙂
Well today is her actual birthday, Friday the lucky thirteenth! She celebrated in style with a strawberry cupcake for breakfast but all I can do is look back on photos from the weekend and miss her so badly my little heart aches.
I am (unashamedly) a creature of habit. When I find something I like doing, I do it with huge love and commitment and I would do it all day every day, until well, one day when I don’t like doing it any more. And when I like eating something, I eat it as often as I humanly can (sometimes I can eat the same thing every day for weeks – remember my thing with meatballs?) until one day the thought of it makes me gag.
On Saturday night, I instagrammed and tweeted a photo of a pavlova I had made for a dinner party. As you can tell, it was a rush job because I didn’t even have time to lay a sheet as a backdrop, I used my carpet for gods sake. In any case, the response was phenomenal with lots of people giving me compliments for my little bake-job, and also asking for the recipe. *blush*
Well, it’s not a new recipe. It’s a tried and tested (many times) oldie, so I know it works 🙂
The recipe is on an older blog post here. Enjoy!
Well, I must be feeling better if I’m making ice cream sandwiches. And I am. Thanks for all the well wishes from the previous post. In a nutshell, I’m much much better, still a little sore but I can now talk, and most importantly, I can eat. Huzzah!
Now, because I am supremely organised (what, you didn’t know that about me? Haven’t read my About page? I need to update that actually…), I made a bunch of recuperative food before I went into surgery, namely the pork & daikon soup and on doctors orders (no joke), some ice cream. Cookies & cream, to be precise.
For a bit of fun, I’ve also made a few little ice cream sandwiches.
