Wednesday evening started off completely normal but turned out to be the most unexpectedly bizarre evening. Wrapping up work at 7pm, I headed out to meet my friend Ying at Amuse Bouche for a pre-dinner bubbly, and we were all on track to hit up Rosa’s in Soho for a good Thai meal and an even better catch up.

She was at Amuse Bouche with her cousin Aidah, who ever so casually asked if instead of Rosa’s, would we like to join her for dinner at The Ritz? THE RITZ. Like, only the most glamorous hotel in all of England, where I tried to go this one time? But I was wearing jeans? And was so very embarrassingly turned away.

I’ve never blogged twice in one day, ever.

But I had the Hawksmoor kimchi burger (kimchi? In a burger? Who does that? Well, they do) for lunch and it would be a crime not to share it with you. You read that right, kimchi. In a burger.

Oh and those there are beef dripping chips. You know what “dripping” is a code word for? Fat. Goddamn, that was a sweet lunch!

#1. I have a toptable account. I signed up when I first moved to London because my friends were telling me about this awesome website where you make restaurant reservations, get points for eating out and redeem free dinners with said points! 110% no strings attached. I started making all my reservations through toptable and within months I’d earned myself a free dinner for two at the otherwise pricey No. 5 Cavendish Square. Cool, right? And since then I’ve had numerous free (earned) meals and am today still a big fat happy user of toptable.

#2. I have an American Express credit card. I use it a lot. I get lots of points. I got myself an awesome KitchenAid blender with points. Rock on.
