Can you believe I’m about to do a post not about burgers? I can’t, but here we go!
I think the simple things in life are often underrated. Some people say that when things come too easy, we don’t appreciate them. Well, to those people, I say what the heck do you know? Have you ever tried making my super easy cookies & cream ice cream? So easy and yet time after time, I’m still floored by how delicious it is in a bowl, in a cup, on a cone or even in an ice cream sandwich.
I definitely appreciate the ice cream and I appreciate that it literally takes about five minutes of my time (to whisk the sugar and milk, and crush the cookies) to produce 1.5L of awesomeness. And above all else, I appreciate the joy it brings to my friend’s kids when they come over and smoosh their cute little faces in the ice cream. (I don’t appreciate any ice cream stains on the couch but hey.)
Life is full of things too complicated. Why not indulge in simple pleasures?
ps. Life is also too short to not go to a whole different country just for a weekend. So this weekend, Panu and I are off to Singapore! Woohoo! I am stupendously excited about all the hawker food!
Cookies & cream ice cream (using an ice cream maker) |
---|
1 1/2 cups whole milk 1 1/2 cups thickened cream 2/3 cup castor sugar (add more or less to taste) 8 Oreo cookies (original) – crushed |
|
Makes 1.5L of ice cream. |
that looks yummy.. do you think i can get the same result by just mixing crushed oreos into a really good vanilla icecream?
You probably could but you’d want the ice cream to be melted a fair bit to get a nice mix through. I also have a recipe to make cookies & cream ice cream without an ice cream maker!

Oh Im loving this! I have some Peanut Butter Oreos we brough back from Thailand. They’d be AWESOME in this 😀
Hehe you know that you need something to eat after the burgers so this is a good choice! 🙂
Nic: Ooooooh peanut butter oreos!!
Lorraine: yah haha I tried to detox from burgers last week and ended up eating Domino’s pizza!
yumm! my favourite icecream flavour 🙂 along with macadamia!
OHHH totally making this 🙂 i’ve been saying that i”ll make ice-cream for So long but i haven’t gotten around to it but this weekend definitely gonna do it 😀
I am SO with you when it comes to the simple pleasure of ice cream. i made some Alphonso mango frozen yogurt the other day, it had three ingredients (mangoes, yoghurt and sugar) and took all of five minutes to whizz up. Delicious.
And talking of delicious, this ice cream sounds way WAY bad (in a good way of course). It now has my mind turning to cookies, cream and (thanks to Nic’s suggestion above) peanut butter. Cookies, cream and NUTS. Yum. Triple yum. *fades away into a gentle ice cream reverie*
Hope you had fun in Singapore!
Hope you have a nice trip. Bring back some delicious recipe food from Singapore! ^^

tastyfoodsnaps: YES! i love nutty flavours too. Must try making that soon 🙂
Daisy: Yeah, and don’t let the cold weather stop you hehe
Grubworm: Hehehe ahhhh cookies, creams and nut AND BUTTER. Seriously, life can’t get much better than that.
Xui Xui: Haha sadly I didn’t bring any recipes back, I just ate A LOT there! I had a great time though 🙂
jenny: Yes well, I can’t actually DO hard recipes so all of my recipes are easy 🙂
OMG this looks divine .
