It was Thanksgiving in the US yesterday. I started this post wanting to write something about being thankful, but wanted to be… you know, witty, and not corny. But alas, I have run out of wit, I don’t want to be super corny (like, I am thankful for my mum) and will just stick to stating the obvious.
Like, boy, am I thankful for Oreos.
The simple Oreo – a thin layer of cream sandwiched between two chocolate biscuits – so simple right? But can you believe it’s been the best selling cookie in the US since 1912? Well, I didn’t believe it but Wikipedia says it is so, and so it is.
But I digress.
I am also thankful for Instagram, which keeps me aware of what the sky looks like in at least 12 countries every five minutes. Conversely, I am also thankful that people follow me on instagram, despite my 90% food, 10% fashion vanity check every day.
In the same theme, I am thankful for Facebook, where I can see what my friends’ kids look like, and what they look like again five minutes later.
And I am also thankful for WhatsApp, where I get daily photos of my niece, and I do care what she looks like every second of the day.
Basically, I’m thankful for my iPhone.
I am thankful for my job, because despite my scary hours, I like it. And it pays for my eating and my shoe habit and my big fat holiday coming up in FOUR WEEKS FROM TODAY (not that I’m counting). I’ll be thankful for that when it finally arrives.
I am thankful for shellac nail polish, because damned if I chip another nail 10 minutes after a manicure.
I am thankful for skinny ankles. I don’t want cankles. Just saying.
I am thankful for chai lattes, because if they didn’t taste so good, I would be drinking coffee everyday and bouncing so high I’d be plastered to the ceiling.
I am thankful for yoga and pilates, and Lululemon. For those who’ve worn Lululemon, you know what I’m talking about.
I am thankful I have teeth, and good teeth, said my dentist recently, so I can continue to keep eating all the yummies.
And lastly… and maybe I will get corny here… I am thankful for health and love and peace and contentment. I am perfectly where I need to be at this point in my life. And for that, I am thankful.
And you know what you guys are thankful for? A recipe for a fricking easy no bake Oreo cheesecake! It LITERALLY takes 10 minutes to make and it tastes awesome 😀

Love it! Holy fat and sugary goodness xx
That’s the most hilarious thanks list Catty! Who knew that it would traverse instgram, skinny ankles and Shellac 😛
I’m absolutely thankful for Oreos! This cheesecake looks fantastic!
You forgot one thing on your list…having such a fast metabolism so that you can order and make anything that looks soo jummy!;-)
LOL I love the things that you are thankful about Catty! And i resonate with most of them 🙂 I am thankful for Oreos too! Need to make this soon 🙂
Bec: calorie freeeeeeeeee!!
Lorraine: Haha yeah, this is my random life!
Clare: Me too! and Tim Tams 🙂
Charmaine: LOL well, you did see I am thankful for yoga and pilates right? So it’s not all about metabolism!
Daisy: You do! It’s so easy!
I need this oreo cake right now I think! You are right Catty lots to be thankful for – especially Oreos.
Wow this looks good and it does sound easy to make. Am I reading right that it’s 1kg of cheese all together?
Gourmet chick: Hahah yeah.. gotta be thankful for the little things too, right?
jenny: YES… 1kg. You can use half that about (500g in total) but it’ll just be a thinner cheesecake. Or use a smaller tin?
Love the nod to Thanksgiving and DROOL on the cake. My oh my!
Dude cankles are the worst! Im also thankful I dont have cankles!
Lara: Hehe no problemo!
Nic: LOL.. i know.. sounds mean but it’s TRUE!
Hi catty, I am making your cheesecake and wondered could you confirm 2packs is it 2×154 g packs, just checking from little old snowy blighty. X
Hi Trish, here in Australia we have 150g packs so I guess that is close enough! Two of the 154g packs in Blighty!
Hope it works out!
Hi is the mascarpone really needed? I cant find any in our local supermarket! 🙁 i live on thursday island in north qld with one supermarket! Argh! Looks too good and missing just one ingredient!!! Argh!
Hi there! I’m not 100% sure as I’ve never done it myself but i THINK you can substitute mascarpone with cream cheese. The flavour might be a little cheesier but see how it goes!
I have just found ur site. Ur so funny!!! I am going to make this tonight x
Did you make it? did it turn out ok?
So sorry for the totally delayed reply! I did indeed make it and have made it numerous times since. It has been in my ‘favourites’ for the last 6 months but then my computer got a virus and was wiped so I had lost your page. I have spent the last hour trying to find your site as other recipes were not as good. I am so happy to have found this site again as I need to make one for Sunday lunch. Will now print it out so I never lose this recipe. Thanks, Catty x
I made this wonderful creation for my fiancee for Valentine’s dessert, the cheesecake was so dense it had its own gravitational pull. Very, very nice. I will be making it again..
hahaha well it IS like one kilo of cheese!!!
