I had a long week last week. Early mornings, late nights, six hours of back to back calls on Valentine’s night. Yep, it was one of those weeks. When the clock struck 6pm on Friday, I was happy enough to just go home and sleep, but Panu suggested out of the blue that he take me to dinner at Saké Restaurant instead.

Who am I to complain? I certainly married the right guy! 😀

Goma street: caramelised white chocolate, sesame ice cream

Last week was full of massive celebrations. I’d survived two weeks of work (which was not easy!), my family was in town, Panu finished studying (ready to make us millions now) and oh yes, we were also celebrating the fact that we got married. But mainly, I was excited to have family in town because that meant quality time with the queen of cuteness herself aka my niece.

We ate. Yes, we ate a lot all week. And amongst the gluttony was one very civilised, extremely enjoyable meal at Sokyo.

seared yellow fin tuna, pork belly, pink grapefruit, black pepper caramel

I’ve had a preeeetty quite silly season this year. Working nights really cramps the party style and aside from a couple of Christmas lunches, I’ve missed most of the fancy-dressing alcohol-swilling gigs that have been happening across town the past month. But luckily, I am always free on weekends. Last Saturday, Panu’s dad treated us to lunch at Flying Fish, sort of as an early Christmas thing because we’re off on our trip this Friday (THREE SLEEPS TO GO!).

Well, I tell you what. I would happily sacrifice all the drinks in the world for another meal at Flying Fish*.

* Sure, fine, it helps that I am not a big drinker and well, I do love my food. Just a bit.

Hurricane’s Grill. There isn’t much I need to say about it except that in my very humble opinion, they do The Best Ribs In The Entire Universe. I thought they were the best from the first time I tried them (about a decade ago when they were only at Bondi). I’ve since tried ribs all over the world – and yep, they’re still the best. So why haven’t I blogged about them before?

Well, my hands were always too sauced up to take photos, obviously.

fat stacked ricotta hotcakes with bacon ice cream from Cowbell 808, Surry Hills

There are more truths to life than death and taxes. For me, for example, other truths include the fact that:

  1. Breakfast is unequivocally the best meal of the day;
  2. People keep asking me for breakfast recommendations in Sydney-town; and
  3. Instagram has single-handedly reduced my blogging by 50%.

Fact, fact and more fact. So without further adieu, sit back and soak up the breakfast food p0rn that is about to besiege your eyes (all taken with instagram, of course). These are some of Sydney’s best breakfasts.

You know when you’re going away for a beach break and you pray and pray for great weather? And then it’s all sunny all the way up to your trip and then it’s overcast when you’re there and then it’s sunny the day you leave? Yeah, that. That is exactly what happened last weekend when a few of my girlfriends and I decided to take a trip up to Terrigal for a quick 24 hour vitamin D boost. The day we arrived was absolute shit (‘scuse the French), but of course the day we leave, it’s all sunshine and phenomenal.

But we made the most of it, even if it meant having to go wander around Erina Fair shopping mall for a couple of hours 🙂
